We have some exciting news to share: Marin Horizon School has a new logo! By now, many of you have already spied it – in our communications, on our socials, and in our front office. You’ll be seeing a lot more of it soon as we roll out the new logo and colors across signage, our website, and printed materials.
Why the change?
While our old schoolhouse logo has served us well for many years, it no longer reflects the current and future spirit and aspirations of Marin Horizon. At the beginning of this year, we embarked upon a thoughtful process as a school to create a new logo that embodies our core values and community.
After a six month exploration involving staff, faculty, and some community members, our Marin Horizon brand team is pleased to share that we have created a new logo that feels fresh and relevant, and references our history, our natural surroundings, and our academic excellence.
What we love about our new graphic!
1) The redwood. The symbol of a redwood tree, from the very beginning of our design process, felt like the right graphic to represent our location and connection to the environment, our longevity and strength, and the growth of our students. It is intentionally breaking out of the circle to suggest unbounded growth and potential. In many ways, it returns us to our roots. Our original school logo (pictured below) was a circular logo with a tree, mountain, and horizon.
2) Circle graphic, horizon, colors, typography. Our new graphic shape is a circle – which is friendly and dynamic – with a horizon delineating the sky above and earth below. Our new colors are vibrant, yet grounded – an energizing marine blue and a midnight blue that conveys stability and confidence. Our custom serif typography is classic and confident.
Will there be new logo SWAG? Absolutely!
We will be rolling out the new logo to our community at the start of the school year at key events (picnic, back-to-school nights) with a bit of fanfare and plenty of SWAG for free (car magnets and stickers) and for sale (t-shirts and sweatshirts for all ages, totes, caps, and more).
